More on A Message to Garcia

Today we talked more about what Elbert Hubbard meant when he wrote A Message to Garcia. We learned that it was published in 1899, it was reprinted as a pamphlet and a book, it sold over 40 million copies, and it was translated into 37 different languages. It was also made into a movie twice. We also learned that Garcia is a revolutionary seeking Cuban independence, Rowan is an army officer, McKinley is President William McKinley who was assassinated six months into his second term and was there was even a mountain named after him.
